About me

I have a deep passion for doing interesting things in technology. I enjoy inspiring other people with my passion or igniting their passion/s.

My background is fairly diverse. I started getting into IT when I was still working in grocery as a stocker. Eventually I went to work at a company that sells remanufactured toner and printers. I worked there for eight years. During that time I started building the company’s first website by hand and getting certified on multiple lines of printers, and plotters. I taught myself how to write html5, css2/3, php5, mysql, jquery, and some javascript. I was also running a side IT business that installed security systems, cameras, and worked with SOHO clients. Towards the end of my eight years there I started to learn Mac as we were working with more design clients.

When I moved to one of the largest community colleges in the nation I got hands on for the first time with active directory, group policy, scripting in command line and powershell, automation, Macs, Linux, docker, and cybersecurity. Over the next three years I worked on a variety of “wierd” projects that most folks didn’t want to deal with. Towards the end I was performing in more of a DevOps / QA role.

Fast foward to the end of 2019 and I started working for a company that is on the cutting edge of safety messages for connected vehicles. In a flash I started working heavily in docker, linux (debian, ubuntu, gentoo, alpine) and learning python and java.

Although I don’t believe that certifications make a person I do hold quite a few in addition to a bachelors in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance:
CompTIA
A+, Network+, Security+, Project +

ISC2
SSCP, CCSP

Cisco
CCNA Cyber Ops

Axelos
ITIL

EC-Council
Certified Incident Handler, Certified Encryption Specialist

This blog is really just meant to be my mind notes on different projects. Because of this it will often be targeted to a variety of topics and those topics won’t do super deep dives in general unless I had a need to. I have gained quite a bit from the community over the years and I hope this will give back a little bit of what I’ve been able to gain and glean.
